China welcomes WTO ruling against US clean energy subsidies under Inflation Reduction Act

( February 2, 2026, 07:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s Ministry of Commerce welcomed and appreciated what it called an “objective and impartial” World Trade Organization panel ruling finding that US clean energy subsidies under the Inflation Reduction Act are inconsistent with WTO rules. A ministry spokesperson said in a statement on Friday that the panel rejected Washington’s defense and called on the US to withdraw the subsidies. China urged the US to respect the ruling and WTO rules, and to correct what it described as wrongful practices to safeguard the international trade order and support stable global trade. China requested WTO consultations with the US on March 26, 2024, over Inflation Reduction Act subsidies which it alleged discriminated against imported goods, including those of Chinese origin.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
