US officially signs trade deal with El Salvador

( January 29, 2026, 17:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US and El Salvador signed a trade deal reached in November. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer signed the deal along with El Salvadoran Minister of Economy María Luisa Hayem. The agreement exempts 10 percent reciprocal tariffs on goods from El Salvador that "cannot be grown, mined, or naturally produced" in sufficient quantities in the US, along with textiles and apparel products that qualify. El Salvador has also agreed to address non-tariff barriers, along with addressing environmental, labor, digital trade, intellectual property, state-owned enterprises and other issues the US has raised.Statement below and trade agreement attached....
