Company in China's Chongqing municipality summoned for cybersecurity lapses

( January 29, 2026, 09:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: An unidentified company in the Dadukou district in China’s Chongqing municipality was recently ordered by the local internet regulator to remedy lapses in its cybersecurity protections, according to the disclosure by the Chongqing Municipal Internet Information Office on Tuesday. The investigation found that an unverified employee clicked on a phishing email containing a fake recruitment ploy, triggering a high-risk Trojan attack and exposing the company to cybersecurity threats. Citing China’s Cybersecurity Law and the Regulation on Network Data Security Management, the district authority also instructed the company to ramp up employee training on internet laws and regulations, boost cybersecurity awareness and strengthen measures to mitigate network risks.Statement follows (in Chinese). ...
