Beijer Ref's proposal to acquire Refspecs triggers regulatory review in New Zealand

( January 29, 2026, 04:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Beijer Ref, a Sweden-based company specializing in refrigeration and air conditioning, is seeking to acquire 100 percent of the shares in Refrigeration Specialties, New Zealand’s competition regulator said. In a statement on Thursday, New Zealand’s Commerce Commission said both parties are wholesalers that specialize in supplying refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment and spare parts. The statement added that Beijer Ref is wholly owned by Nasdaq-listed company, Beijer Ref AB and Refspecs is owned by New Zealand wholesaler Morgan Family and Refrigeration Specialties Trustee. In a statement of preliminary issues published on Thursday, the regulator said it will examine whether wholesale systems or units for refrigeration or air conditioning form separate markets from related components or spare parts.Statement follows.
