South Korea adopts first master plan to foster quantum tech, industry

( January 29, 2026, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT announced on Thursday its first comprehensive plan to promote quantum science and technology and the quantum industry, along with a first basic plan to establish quantum clusters. Both initiatives aim to support what is emerging as a next-generation general-purpose technology along with — and combined with — artificial intelligence technology. The plans were prepared under the mandate of the law on the promotion of scientific research in the quantum sector and related industries. Viewing quantum technology as more than a laboratory pursuit, the comprehensive plan lays out a roadmap for industrialization, with such goals as achieving a world-leading position in quantum-chip manufacturing by 2035, training 10,000 quantum professionals and fostering 2,000 quantum companies.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
