DFDS's Naviera Armas ferry deal facing in-depth competition review in Spain

( January 28, 2026, 12:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Danish shipping company DFDS's acquisition of rival Naviera Armas's ferry operations in the Strait of Gibraltar is being subjected to a full investigation, the Spanish competition authority said Wednesday. Both companies are active in passenger and freight maritime transport on routes to Tangier and Ceuta. Earlier this month, the authority opened a full review of Baleària's planned purchase of Armas's business in the Canary Islands, the Alboran Sea, as well as part of the Strait of Gibraltar. Statement follows (in Spanish)....
