South Korea plans to introduce penalties for non-compliance with antitrust probes

South Korea's antitrust chief Ju Biung-ghi told President Lee Jae Myung at a cabinet meeting that the agency plans to impose fines of up to 1 percent of annual sales, along with penalties of up to 5 percent of daily sales for non-compliance with antitrust probes. Businesses in South Korea could face fines for refusing to cooperate with antitrust investigations, as the country’s competition regulator moves to introduce penalties for non-compliance as part of a broader effort to strengthen its enforcement powers by raising maximum fine rates....
