Manage My Health data breach under two-phase inquiry by New Zealand privacy watchdog

( January 28, 2026, 00:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The first phase of an independent inquiry into the Manage My Health data breach, which exposed the personal information of about 126,000 people, will examine the responsibilities of the patient portal and its users, New Zealand’s privacy regulator said. In a statement published on Wednesday, New Zealand’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner said it published the terms of reference document outlining the purpose and scope of its inquiry. The statement said that the first phase of the inquiry, expected to be completed by April 30, will look into the adequacy of security safeguards that were in place at the time of the security breach in 2025.
