China unveils personal-data protection standards with compliance audits

The standards delineate principles for compliance audits, the mandates for audit procedures, the qualifications for auditors and the overall audit-implementation process. They also provide detailed guidance on audit evidence and methods for evaluating matters such as the legality of personal-information processing, the compliance by data handlers with notification obligations, joint data handling, automated decision-making, sensitive data processing and major internet platforms rules.
