South Korea opens help desk as AI law takes effect

( January 22, 2026, 07:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea on Thursday opened a dedicated service to answer questions from, and provide help to, those developing, doing business with and using artificial intelligence tools while complying with a new law that came fully into force earlier in the day. The Framework Act on AI Help Desk, staffed with experts from organizations including the AI Safety Institute and the National Information Society Agency, provides accurate and prompt consultations and guidance, based on the principle that consultation details remain confidential, the Ministry of Science and ICT said. The desk opened as part of the government’s efforts to help the landmark AI Basic Act — the second comprehensive AI law enacted worldwide after the EU AI Act — take root smoothly.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
