Daily Mail-Telegraph deal faces possible UK public interest intervention

( January 20, 2026, 19:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Daily Mail and General Trust’s planned acquisition of newspaper rival Telegraph Media Group may be investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority on public interest grounds in relation to the plurality of views in the media and control. Culture minister Lisa Nandy is “minded” to give a public interest intervention notice to the CMA, she wrote in a letter to the DMGT.
