Chinese platform Pinduoduo fined by Shanghai tax authorities for tax-related violations

( January 21, 2026, 08:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Shanghai tax authorities have fined the operator of Chinese e-commerce giant Pinduoduo, Shanghai Xunmeng Information Technology, 100,000 yuan ($14,400) for tax-related violations. The Shanghai Municipal Tax Service’s Changning District bureau said in a notice published on Wednesday that the company failed to report required tax information and did not correct the breach within a prescribed deadline. Although the company later completed rectification, the authority imposed the penalty under the country's Internet Platform Enterprise Tax Information Reporting Regulation. The tax bureau reiterated that internet platform's tax information reporting obligations, warning that serious violations could lead to higher fines or business suspension.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
