China's Changsha cyberspace regulator details 2025 enforcement, flags seven cases

( January 21, 2026, 05:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s internet regulators in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, conducted 259 enforcement interviews and imposed penalties on 15 companies in 2025 as part of a crackdown on network governance, according to the Changsha Internet Information Office. The regulator recently highlighted seven cases, including two data-leaks in which a private hospital and a local technology company received administrative penalties and correction orders because their security failures allowed unauthorized access to sensitive personal or business data. In another case, the representative of a real-estate developer’s sales office was summoned for illegally collecting and using facial-recognition data from visitors without informed consent. Officials also questioned representatives from 53 mobile apps for unlawful collection of personal information and issued rectification orders.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
