Bank of Korea becomes world's first central bank to develop own AI platform

( January 21, 2026, 04:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Bank of Korea said Wednesday that it has completed the development of a financial- and economic-domain-specific sovereign artificial intelligence platform in partnership with Naver, becoming the first central bank in the world to develop and use an AI platform on its internal on-premise network. Under the collaboration, Naver provided cloud infrastructure and large language models, while the Bank of Korea developed AI applications specialized in finance and economics. Development of the platform — called Bank of Korea Intelligence — began in earnest in 2024 and was completed in about 18 months, encompassing the digitization of internal data, installation of Naver’s HyperCLOVA X model, and the development of application-specific AI services, the Bank of Korea said.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
