South Korean broadcasters request system for 'rational' content deals with AI firms

( January 20, 2026, 06:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Traditional broadcasting companies across South Korea on Tuesday asked the country’s top body overseeing artificial intelligence policy to help build a system that would allow “rational transactions” of their copyrighted content with AI businesses. The Presidential Council on National Artificial Intelligence Strategy said the Korean Broadcasters Association, which has 39 members including public broadcaster KBS, made the request during a meeting between officials from the two organizations to discuss key issues related to AI development. The council has been holding meetings with key stakeholders as it works to adopt the final national AI action plan.The statement is attached (in Korean)....
