Over 20 companies fined for collusion in Romania’s car-repair sector

( January 19, 2026, 14:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Twenty-five auto-repair service centers and two insurers – have been fined a total of 14.73 million lei ($3.35 million) for coordinating their commercial behavior in the vehicle maintenance and repair services market in Romania. The practice involved fixing or standardizing labor rates, spare part prices and other conditions in their relationship with some insurance companies. The agreement was reinforced by insurance companies Allianz-Țiriac Unit Asigurări (formerly Gothaer Asigurări-Reasigurări) and Uniqa Asigurări, which backed the coordination of the repairers' conduct, the domestic competition authority said Monday.
