Toshiba subsidiaries get corrective recommendations over Subcontract Act violations

( January 15, 2026, 09:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Toshiba subsidiaries Toshiba Industrial Products and Systems and Toshiba Hokuto Electronics received corrective recommendations on Thursday for violating Japan’s Subcontract Act, the Japan Fair Trade Commission said. The JFTC found that the two companies required subcontractors to store metal molds that had not been used for extended periods without paying storage fees, beginning in early 2024. In total, 47 subcontractors of Toshiba Industrial stored 1,510 molds, while 14 subcontractors of Toshiba Hokuto were required to store 483 molds. The companies were ordered to pay the outstanding storage fees and implement compliance measures. The conduct occurred before amendments to the Subcontract Act took effect on Jan. 1, and the law in force at the time was applied.The statement is attached (in Japanese)....
