Vietnam's competition authority imposes fines for consumer-rights violations

( January 12, 2026, 03:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Vietnam Competition Commission imposed administrative fines of 2.71 billion Vietnamese dong (over $103,000) on 17 organizations and individuals that violated consumer-rights protection regulations in 2025, its year-end review shows. Elsewhere, out of the 231 economic-concentration transactions it was notified of throughout the year, the commission identified 63 cases of unfair competition, investigated 13, and proposed fines of 2.2 billion Vietnamese dong for 11 of them — which are businesses in the fields of postal services, insurance, water purification, gold trading and pharmaceuticals — to higher authorities. It also processed two applications for exemption from prohibited anticompetitive agreements, inspected competition-law compliance at four enterprises in the e-commerce and maritime logistics sectors, and monitored large digital platforms’ compliance with the consumer rights protection law.The full statement is attached (in Vietnamese)....
