Latvian watchdog disagrees with top court’s ruling in builders’ cartel

( January 8, 2026, 09:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Latvia's antitrust authority said the Supreme Court's judgment on a construction cartel has been "narrow" and "formal" and that it failed to assess the existence of illegal cartel agreements. The court concluded that information provided by the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau to the authority couldn't be used to prove the existence of a cartel agreement. It overturned a previous ruling on the watchdog's 2021 decision to fine ten construction companies for bid-rigging in public and private tenders. The case has been referred back to the Administrative Regional Court for reconsideration.Statement follows. ...
