Indonesia probes alleged misuse of X's Grok AI to create pornographic content

( January 8, 2026, 07:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- Mlex Summary: Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital Ministry is looking into allegations of misuse of the Grok AI artificial intelligence feature on the X platform to produce and distribute immoral content, including the manipulation of sensitive personal photos without the owner’s consent. In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said preliminary findings indicate that Grok AI lacks explicit and adequate safeguards to prevent the production and distribution of pornographic content based on real photos of Indonesian citizens. The ministry warned that noncompliance by electronic system operators could result in administrative sanctions, including blocking access to Grok AI and the X platform. It also urged members of the public to report suspected misuse, including deepfake sexual content or unauthorized photo manipulation, to law enforcement authorities or directly to the ministry.Statement follows (Indonesian)....
