China market regulator warns photovoltaic companies over price wars

( December 26, 2025, 08:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s market regulator on Friday convened a compliance guidance meeting in Hefei, Anhui province, warning that disorderly price competition in the photovoltaic sector is distorting market signals and squeezing company profitability. The State Administration for Market Regulation said persistent low-quality competition and homogenous capacity expansion have weakened incentives for technological innovation and product upgrades. The regulator told photovoltaic companies to comply strictly with pricing and competition rules, flagging risks such as price collusion, price fraud, false advertising and commercial bribery. It also urged power generation companies to prioritize quality over price in project tenders, called on industry associations to strengthen self-discipline, and said it would intensify enforcement against price abuses, quality violations and unfair competition.Statement follows (Chinese)....
