China overhauls certification standards for cross-border personal data transfers

( December 26, 2025, 06:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s State Administration for Market Regulation, along with the Cyberspace Administration, has issued a joint notice confirming revisions to the certification standards for outbound transfers of personal information, according to the National Certification and Accreditation Administration under the market regulator. The updated protocols now incorporate GB/T 35273, the national standards on personal-information security specifications promulgated in 2020, and GB/T 46068, which outlines security certification requirements for cross-border processing of personal information. The GB/T 46068 standard, issued in August, will take effect next March, replacing the 2022 guidelines on security certification for cross-border personal data processing activities.The statement follows (Chinese). ...
