South Korea sticks with draft AI-law decree, pledges flexible management

The Ministry of Science and ICT rejected calls to suspend regulatory obligations, while pledging flexible enforcement and a temporary suspension of fines for serious violations. It said feedback during the public notice period focused on definitions, transparency, safety duties and high-impact AI systems.South Korea said Wednesday that it will finalize the enforcement decree for its landmark artificial intelligence law before the law’s implementation in late January 2026, without major amendments to the draft version, while pledging to operate the law and its subordinate rules as flexibly as possible....
