Vietnam releases draft sanctions decree under Data Law

( December 24, 2025, 04:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security has released a draft decree stipulating sanctions for violations of the Data Law for public consultation until Jan. 2. The draft proposes administrative fines of up to 80 million dong ($3,040) for failure to submit an impact assessment for cross-border data transfers, and up to $7,600 for cross-border transfers of core and important data that could potentially affect national defense and security. Systems and platforms that commit serious violations may face operational suspension of up to 12 months.
