South Korea revises rules on case procedures, consent-decree proceedings

( December 24, 2025, 03:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s antitrust regulator has revised its rules for case-handling procedures and consent decree proceedings to accelerate case handling. The revised rules will take effect on Dec. 31. Under the revisions, the scope of cases eligible for investigator-issued warnings will be expanded by raising revenue or budget thresholds by up to 40 percent, allowing the Korea Fair Trade Commission to focus on more serious cases. The KFTC will also broaden the use of written deliberations for uncontested cases by increasing the ceiling for eligible cases from those involving expected fines of up to 300 million won ($205,010) to up to 1 billion won. For consent decrees, the period for businesses to submit opinions on examiner’s reports will be shortened to two weeks to expedite proceedings. The statement, in Korean, is attached....
