Japanese transport companies warned against exploitative treatment of subcontractors

The issues include failure to provide purchase orders with detailed contracting information and refusal to negotiate fees with subcontracted trucking companies despite requests for adjustments in light of rising costs. As a result of a focused survey among transport companies, the Japan Fair Trade Commission and the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency issued 530 guidance notices to trucking companies and warned them against engaging in exploitative practices.
