FTC invokes Trump AI plan in first revocation of prior AI settlement

By Madeline Hughes and Mike Swift ( December 22, 2025, 22:01 GMT | Insight) -- In the first example of the US Federal Trade Commissioner using the Trump AI Action Plan to reverse earlier enforcement orders around artificial intelligence, the FTC has revoked a settlement from last year alleging Rytr was being used to flood websites with false reviews. “Condemning a technology or service simply because it potentially could be used in a problematic manner is inconsistent with the law and ordered liberty,” the chief of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection said of the decision.The US Federal Trade Commission revoked its first AI settlement after re-reviewing settlements under President Trump’s AI Action Plan, the agency said Monday....
