US FTC sets aside Rytr order, says it unduly burdens AI innovation

( December 22, 2025, 18:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Federal Trade Commission announced it has issued an order to reopen and set aside a 2024 final consent order involving Rytr LLC. The FTC said that the complaint failed to satisfy the legal requirements of the FTC Act and that the order unduly burdens artificial intelligence innovation. “Condemning a technology or service simply because it potentially could be used in a problematic manner is inconsistent with the law and ordered liberty,” Christopher Mufarrige, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, said.
