Czech funding for TV firms incompatible with state aid rules, EU watchdog says

In a statement, the watchdog said the funding sought to compensate costs that were inherent to commercial activity and was incompatible with state aid rules due to the lack of a market failure, the absence of an incentive effect and the aid not being limited to the minimum necessary. The aid, which aimed to cover the costs of running transitional networks from 2017 to 2020, was not paid out by Czechia pending the Commission state aid decision.Statement follows. ...
