NSO loses bid to stay US injunction against installing Pegaus spyware via WhatsApp

( December 20, 2025, 00:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: NSO Group Technologies lost a bid to stay a permanent injunction from a US federal court to install its Pegasus spyware via Meta Platforms’ WhatsApp. "The court does not find that defendants have made a strong showing of likelihood of success on the merits of their arguments regarding liability," US District Judge Phyllis Hamilton wrote in denying the stay while NSO appeals its trial loss to the Ninth Circuit. Hamilton wrote that "the undisputed evidence showed that NSO went far beyond their authorized use of Whatsapp by reverse-engineering the application to design a spyware vector which allowed NSO’s clients to surveil Whatsapp’s users and obtain data from its servers."See attached document....
