South Korea to intensify monitoring of digital platforms, collusion in 2026

( December 19, 2025, 10:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s antitrust regulator will step up scrutiny of digital platforms, tighten enforcement against collusion and deceptive consumer practices, and overhaul regulations in key industries such as artificial intelligence and defense next year. In a policy briefing to President Lee Jae Myung on Friday, the Korea Fair Trade Commission said it will review regulations that may hinder innovation in AI and defense sectors, with the aim of lowering entry barriers and stimulating competition. The agency will also support the National Assembly in drafting platform-regulation legislation to ensure fair transactions between major platforms and smaller vendors.
