China's Mofcom opposes EU FSR probes into CRRC, Nuctech and digital platforms

( December 18, 2025, 09:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s Ministry of Commerce on Thursday expressed opposition to the European Commission’s escalating use of the Foreign Subsidies Regulation to investigate Chinese companies, saying the probes lacked sufficient evidence and showed “clear discrimination.” Speaking at a regular press briefing, spokesperson He Yadong cited the commission's recent in-depth reviews of state-owned rolling stock maker CRRC and security company Nuctech, as well as unexpected on-site inspections of Chinese digital platforms. He said a January assessment had already found the EU’s FSR actions constituted a barrier to trade and investment, marked by excessive enforcement, a reversed burden of proof and opaque procedures. The ministry urged Brussels to stop what it called unjustified pressure on foreign-invested companies and said China would take steps to protect its companies’ rights. The excerpt of the transcript follows:...
