Vets sector needs action to protect consumers, Dutch ACM says

( December 18, 2025, 09:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Pet owners in The Netherlands need better protections from the risk of being charged unreasonably high prices and treatments that go beyond what’s necessary, the national competition authority has said in a draft report on the industry. The sector has become more commercial, partly due to takeovers of practices by private investors, the Autoriteit Consument & Markt said. The ACM is seeking views until Jan. 23 on recommendations, which include banning practices that give vets incentives based on revenues and profits, and giving itself the power to review small but risky acquisitions.Statement follows (in Dutch)....
