First draft of Code of Practice for AI-generated content published in EU

( December 17, 2025, 12:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Providers and deployers of generative AI systems on Wednesday saw the European Commission release the first draft of the Code of Practice on the marking and labeling of AI-generated content. The voluntary code — drafted by independent experts — will help providers and deployers to meet AI Act obligations such as marking AI-generated or manipulated content in a machine-readable format or to clearly label deepfakes and AI-text publications on matters of public interest, before these rules come into effect in August 2026. The deadline for comments on the first draft is Jan. 23. A second draft is scheduled to be ready by mid-March, and the code is expected to be finalized by June.Statement follows.
