New short-term rental rules to feature in EU’s affordable housing law in 2026

The measure, announced as part of its planned affordable housing law in 2026, would aim to tackle concerns that rapid growth in the short-term rentals market is squeezing long-term housing supply and pushing up rents for local residents. In a statement, the commission said its first European Affordable Housing Plan would also include help increase housing supply and trigger investment and reforms.The press release follows.
