Trump releases executive order preempting state AI regulation

( December 11, 2025, 23:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that requires the US Attorney General to set up an "AI Litigation Task Force" within 30 days to challenge the constitutionality of state laws regulating artificial intelligence, including on grounds that such laws unconstitutionally regulate interstate commerce. To win global AI dominance, "United States AI companies must be free to innovate without cumbersome regulation. But excessive State regulation thwarts this imperative.
