South Korea flags 95% follow-through on privacy corrective orders

( December 11, 2025, 05:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s privacy watchdog said about 95.3 percent of 108 corrective and related orders with deadlines between October 2024 and June 2025 have either been implemented or are supported by concrete follow-up plans. According to the Personal Information Protection Commission, the review covered high-profile cases including Meta Platforms' removal of sensitive-data ad-targeting options and remedial steps by 12 non-life insurers, which adjusted online consent screens and data-retention practices in their direct auto-insurance services. Cloud providers AWS, Microsoft Azure and Naver Cloud have drawn up security guidance tailored to South Korean law, while Modetour and major social-login providers, such as Apple, Google, Meta, Naver and Kakao, have revamped account-deletion and data-disposal processes.
