Vietnam passes revised cybersecurity law, retains data localization rules

( December 10, 2025, 08:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Vietnam’s National Assembly on Wednesday passed the revised cybersecurity law, with over 90 percent of 443 lawmakers voting in favor. The new law retains the data localization provisions for foreign service providers, including the requirement to establish representative offices in the country. It also still requires both domestic and foreign enterprises to provide user information to the Ministry of Public Security upon request. The law will take effect on July 1, 2026, replacing the 2015 Law on Cyberinformation Security and the 2018 Cybersecurity Law.The bill is attached (in Vietnamese)....
