US authorities shut down major China-linked AI tech smuggling network

( December 8, 2025, 23:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice has charged a Houston-based company and its owner with smuggling Nvidia's advanced semiconductor chips used to power artificial intelligence to China. The DOJ said it seized $50 million in Nvidia technologies and cash. The DOJ said 43-year-old Alan Hao Hsu, also known as Haochun Hsu, of Missouri City, Texas, and his company, Hao Global LLC, pleaded guilty in October to smuggling and unlawful export activities between October 2024 and May 2025. They allegedly exported and attempted to export at least $160 million worth of Nvidia H100 and H200 chips and received $50 million in wire transfers from China for the scheme. Two Chinese natives, Benlin Yuan, 58, and 43-year-old Fanyue Gong, also known as Tom Gong, were also arrested and charged in the scheme.Statement follows below:...
