USDA formalizes aid package details for farmers

( December 8, 2025, 22:47 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Agriculture announced the formal details of a $12 billion aid package for American farmers that President Donald Trump announced during a White House roundtable. Of the total aid, $11 billion will be used for the Farmer Bridge Assistance Program, providing relief for growers of barley, chickpeas, corn, cotton, lentils, oats, peanuts, peas, rice, sorghum, soybeans, wheat, canola, crambe, flax, mustard, rapeseed, safflower, sesame and sunflower. Farmers who apply must ensure accurate reporting by Dec. 19, and payments will be released on Feb. 28.
