Indonesia criticizes EU appeal that stalls WTO stainless-steel ruling

( December 5, 2025, 09:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia has criticized the EU's decision to appeal a World Trade Organization panel ruling that found that the EU’s countervailing duties, or CVDs, on Indonesian stainless-steel products violated WTO rules. The Ministry of Trade said the appeal to the WTO’s non-functioning Appellate Body prevents the ruling from being adopted, calling the move “deeply concerning.” Trade Minister Budi Santoso said the EU should have withdrawn its CVDs after the panel’s findings and warned that the appeal appears aimed at prolonging WTO-inconsistent measures. He added that Indonesia is open to alternative dispute-settlement options but opposes the EU’s insistence on using the Multi-Party Interim Appeal Arbitration Arrangement, which Indonesia does not recognize.Statement follows (in Indonesian)....
