South Korea fast-tracks GPU imports, eyes major rollout of domestic chips

Vice-Minister of Science and ICT Ryu Je-myung also said the government aims to adopt domestically developed NPUs in public-sector and industrial AI projects in 2026 as local chips near full commercialization.Obtaining as many as possible of the planned artificial-intelligence graphics processing units to be purchased from Nvidia and putting them into operation as quickly as possible is a top priority for South Korea, even if prices move in an unexpected or unfavorable direction, a top official said on Friday....
