Indonesia aims to resume trade-in-goods talks with Pakistan in 2026

( December 5, 2025, 04:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia has proposed resuming negotiations on the Indonesia-Pakistan Trade in Goods Agreement, or IP-TIGA, in 2026, Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri said after meeting Pakistan’s trade minister, Jam Kamal Khan, in Cairo on the sidelines of the D-8 trade ministers’ meeting. Talks began in 2019 and have held two rounds, with both sides agreeing on negotiation terms and exchanging trade and tariff data. Roro said the talks stalled because Pakistan has not yet responded to Indonesia’s draft text and negotiation modalities, and she proposed restarting them in 2026 to give both negotiating teams sufficient time to prepare. Bilateral trade in 2024 reached $4.1 billion, with Indonesia exporting $3.5 billion and importing $621.5 million, mainly palm oil, palm-based products and coal, the Trade Ministry said. The statement follows (in Indonesian). ...
