EU AI facility projects open to foreign participants — with limitations

Demand has been strong ahead of a formal tender that will open in early 2026. The EU will still rely on foreign AI chips, and the European Investment Bank will help assess and fund the projects based on financial, technical and environmental viability.The European Commission will accept bids to develop EU-funded massive AI facilities with participation from foreign investors and providers — as long as the majority share is European and high-risk vendors are excluded, digital chief Henna Virkkunen said....
