UK Post Office reprimanded over data breach but escapes fine as a public body

( December 3, 2025, 12:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK's retail postal service has avoided a fine of up to £1.1 million for a breach that exposed personal data of 502 branch operators who were claimants in group litigation over the company's Horizon IT computer scandal. The breach was in 2024, when the Post Office uploaded an unredacted settlement deed. A stance by the UK privacy watchdog not to fine public bodies has resulted in it issuing a reprimand rather than a fine. The Post Office, a state-owned commercial company, disputed the Information Commissioner’s Office's indication of a fine amount that would have been appropriate in the absence of that stance on the basis that it hadn't had a chance to try to argue it down.Reprimand attached....
