Does US bank data transfer law conflict with GDPR, Belgian court asks EU judges

( December 4, 2025, 14:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU judges have been asked by a Belgian court if a US law to fight tax evasion that obliges Belgian banks to send US citizens' bank account data to US tax authorities conforms to EU privacy rules. The Brussels Court of Appeal has decided to send 13 questions to the EU Court of Justice on whether the data transfers under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, or FATCA, breach provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation on data transfers outside the EU, including the relevance of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.Ruling attached....
