Coupang users in South Korea file for dispute mediation over massive data breach

( December 2, 2025, 09:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Coupang faces new legal action over a massive data breach affecting some 33.7 million records, as South Korean users on Tuesday sought compensation through personal-information dispute mediation. Law firm Jihyang said about 30 users joined the first batch of the collective case, each seeking 300,000 won ($204) in damages, in an application filed with the state-run Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee, which has 60 days to conclude cases after opening proceedings. The firm argues Coupang failed to meet basic security obligations under the Personal Information Protection Act and says it aims to secure meaningful relief for victims. Jihyang is also preparing a group damages lawsuit against Coupang, with the complaint expected later this week.Statement attached....
