South Korea upgrades IP trial system with new AI capabilities

( December 2, 2025, 07:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Ministry of Intellectual Property said Tuesday that it has successfully completed a three-year project to upgrade its patent trial and appeal system by improving overall performance and adopting artificial intelligence technology. The ministry, formerly the Korean Intellectual Property Office, said the new system uses AI-based recommendation tools to classify roughly 180,000 trial and decision documents by issue and to summarize grounds for claims. It also adds a tool that automatically compares registered specifications with corrected versions, reducing the time adjudicators spend visually reviewing full texts. The government expects the AI upgrades to shorten registration times and improve efficiency.Statement attached (in Korean)....
