UK telecoms firms and regulator challenged by government on price increases

( November 27, 2025, 15:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK telecom providers were urged on Thursday to rule out mid-contract price increases beyond what customers agreed, as the finance and tech ministers wrote to company chiefs calling for clearer pricing and better communication with users. In a separate letter to the media regulator earlier this week, ministers asked for an assessment of whether the current 30-day notice period lets customers exit contracts easily when prices rise. The statements come as O2 remains under fire for announcing mid-contract rises last month.
