La Caisse-Edify NSW deal approved under Australia's new merger regime

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission announced on Thursday that the acquisition by La Caisse, a global investment group headquartered in Canada, of renewable energy generation and storage asset developer Edify NSW through a share-sale agreement is unlikely to have the effect of substantially lessening competition in any market. The regulator said that because La Caisse has no electricity generation assets in Australia, it does not compete with Edify NSW in the wholesale supply of electricity in the country.The determination is attached. ...
